I love everything about volleyball.  I enjoy the adrenalin rush of competition, the team spirit and the personal challenges to be the best player and leader. Playing volleyball has also taught me to be more disciplined off the court.  I have become a better student and person due to the lessons I have learned through volleyball.  I have developed an appreciation for all student-athletes and their dedication.

6. Where do you want to go to college? Why? Do you want to play volleyball

I want to play volleyball forever.  I am looking for a college that will challenge me as a student-athlete as a whole.  A college that will provide excellent educational opportunities and a high level volleyball environment.  I am looking to find the right balance and match that will allow me to pursue an education and excel as a volleyball player.

7. What is your favorite thing to do with your free time?

Most of my free time is taken up with school work, volleyball practice and workouts.  When I do have down time I like to be outside whether it be hiking, skiing or just hanging out with friends.  I am also part of a musical family and spend time listening to music, playing piano or singing.  I enjoy watching many other sports such as hockey, basketball and football.  I spend much of my summer on the beach playing competitive sand volleyball.    Helping others is an increasing priority for me.  I donate time to food banks and crisis centers.

My biggest inspirations are probably student-athletes, teachers and coaches.  I identify and draw strength from them knowing the dedication and sacrifice they make for the love of their sports or classes.

I love mac n’ cheese, a good salad and Mexican food.  I drink mostly water but will slip in a sports drink.  I don’t drink sodas but do drink tea and lemonade.

10. Do you have any pre-game rituals? If so, why do you do it?

I listen to music to focus on games and hydrate.  I have different types of pre-game interactions with each of my teammates.  Otherwise I usually wear a shirt or sweatshirt during warm-up and re-tie my shoes.

11. What is your most memorable moment in sports? Why?

There are so many memorable moments.  Some small moments with teammates during games, between games or during trips.  Funny and laughing moments.  Like the time I was tying my shoe when the other team served.  I chicken winged the ball for a perfect pass with my elbow.  Some big moments like the big wins and even the heartbreaking losses.  I like the great hits, the eye popping digs and hard fought blocks.  The crazy plays that somehow workout or those never give up come from behind wins.  All part of the experience and glad to have them.

Good Luck, Katie!
